IMPORTANT NOTICE:

At the end of June 2010, the Government announced their plans to close East Midlands Development Agency (EMDA).  The Redundant Rural Building Grant (RRBG) is a grant scheme funded by EMDA, and therefore this news has had an immediate impact on the operation of the grant scheme.  Therefore, it is with regret that we must advise that we are unable to accept any more applications for the remainder of this financial year.

If you have any questions regarding this announcement, please do not hesitate to contact Claire Riley on 01529 302466 or Email claire.riley@communitylincs.com.

Lincolnshire’s Redundant Rural Building Grant Scheme

The Lincolnshire Redundant Rural Building Grant Scheme helps bring redundant buildings back into productive use, to address local demand for workspace and to create and safeguard jobs in the County's rural communities.

To qualify for assistance, a building must be completely unused, or unusable in its current state for the purposes for which it is now needed.  Most types of building will be eligible, regardless of age, as long as they will be used for business purposes once works are completed.

The building must be in a rural location within Lincolnshire (excluding Lincoln City and South Kesteven). Rural is further defined as a village or town with less than 25,000 residents.

Grant aid will be available for building conversions that provide:

·        accommodation for manufacturing, service or crafts activities

·        office accommodation

·        tourism and leisure facilities, including licensed establishments, bed and breakfast, tearooms, cafes, museums, craft centres etc

·        serviced tourist accommodation, provided there is evidence of demand and that the project is of a high standard.

·        retail premises

The scheme will provide grant aid for the upgrading of utilities, if this will enhance an existing business activity within the premises. However, refurbishment of existing business premises and works connected with changes of use of a building for an existing business – e.g. from storage to manufacturing - will not be eligible for assistance.

Individuals, partnerships, limited companies or co-operatives can all apply for a grant. Applicants can be owner-occupiers, owners proposing to lease out the premises for eligible business uses, or tenants who have a fixed term lease with an un-expired term of at least ten years.

Agricultural and other land-based businesses are eligible to apply for support but only in respect of projects not related to primary production.

The rate of grant will be up to, but will not normally exceed 25% of eligible costs (which should not exceed £200,000), subject to a minimum grant of £2,500 and a maximum grant of £50,000.  Grants to the private sector are governed by European State Aid rules.
