- Longhurst Group
- Waterloo Housing Group
- Lincolnshire Rural Housing Association
Community Lincs
The Homes and Communities Agency
The county Sustainable Communities Strategy includes the following outcomes:
Vibrant communities where people enjoy lifeHomes in good condition that are affordable and that suit people’s needs
People have choices about their lives and are treated with dignity
Rural affordable housing has a significant role to play in meeting these outcomes. It provides opportunities for people from different ages and backgrounds to live in rural areas, through the mixed communities this supports opportunities are created for local businesses to thrive and informal and formal support services to be provided locally.
Through the way it is designed and built it can enhance the environment. By providing a platform for local provision of jobs and services it can contribute to creating low carbon communities.
To stimulate delivery of new affordable homes the Local Area Agreement includes a specific target of providing 150 new homes per annum in rural settlements.Overall, delivery over the last three years has averaged 230 homes a year in smaller rural communities. However, provision is not evenly spread with two authorities providing 72% of these homes. There are also concerns that future delivery will fall short of the target. Currently there are 58 potential schemes, but just over half of these have only reached the stage of identifying the need.
